Early on, ZEON recognized
the approaching age of internationalization and actively
promoted the globalization of its business. Starting with
the reorganization of its worldwide sales network, ZEON established a production system for rubbers and resins,
while establishing R&D facilities in Europe and the
U.S.A. to increase company responsiveness to local needs.
In addition, ZEON set up an R&D foothold in the
rapidly developing nation of China. The Research & Development
Center is currently in position to advance into new fields
of international R&D through a tripolar system linking
Japan, the U.S.A. and Europe. World-class achievements from
ZEON's R&D Center have expanded from its traditional
business lines, such as synthetic rubbers, synthetic latex
and chemical products, into new business fields, including
biotechnology, medical treatment, and electronics. Representative
products include solution-polymerized, modified chain-ends
rubber for the production of cost-saving tires with dramatically
improved performance; hydrogenated nitrile rubber for timing
belts; vaccines produced by pioneering work in category
III gene recombination; and polymerization toners that have
led to the realization of high-quality image reproduction
and high-speed printing; and cyclic olefin polymers, which
are expected to support next-generation optical and electronic
materials. ZEON is committed to a strong global presence
as an imperative to provide the largest variety of the highest
quality products throughout the world.
