Tokuyama Plant

Located in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, an area with both the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea with its mild climate, and scenic mountains with their cooler temperatures, the Tokuyama Plant began operations in August 1965 as the primary production complex for general-purpose synthetic rubber utilizing monomer by the GPB process (ZEON's proprietary technology for extracting butadiene).
Facilities for special synthetic rubber and synthetic rubber latex were later completed, followed by works for polymerized toner, production of which began in 1995. Currently, the Plant produces general-purpose rubber (for tires and resin modifier), special rubber (for automotive parts), latex (for resin modifier, processed paper, and gloves) and polymerized toner.
With an area of 237,330 m2, the Tokuyama Plant is one of the largest synthetic rubber production sites in the world. Approximately one half of the synthetic rubber produced here is exported from the adjacent Tokuyama Port to Europe, America, and Asia, making the Tokuyama Plant an important center of ZEON's materials business and a key part of ZEON's global operations.
