Logistics Safety

ZEON instituted Yellow Card Management Rules for transporting toxic or hazardous products. These rules require drivers to carry a yellow card when transporting such products.
Reporting and communication training for drivers is also conducted, and each plant offers training on product handling to prevent logistics accidents.

Environmental Countermeasures for Logistics

1. Metal packaging containers for synthetic rubber products
To support forest preservation, we have started to convert packaging containers for synthetic rubber products to returnable metal box pallets. This change has already been completed for our export models, and in fiscal 2005, we embarked on a full-scale program to convert domestic models. With a few exceptions, most of our packaging containers are metal as of fiscal 2010. We are seeking to more efficiently use metal resources by collecting and repairing metal box pallets used for domestic shipments in order to reuse them. In fiscal 2010, reused metal box pallets accounted for a little over 80% of the total annual use of metal box pallets.

2. Compliance with the revised Energy Saving Law
As a designated consigner, ZEON places particular emphasis on rationalizing the use of energy for transportation. We have been improving our load and fuel efficiencies in conjunction with cooperating firms involved in transporting products and raw materials, while also considering and implementing viable solutions from a variety of perspectives, including a modal shift to rail and ship transportation from the use of trucks. Since fiscal 2009, we have been implementing the following two measures.
• Adopting biodiesel vehicles
• Implementing modal shift
